One of the best ways to build up your business online would be to create a WordPress website. Because, what’s your business without existence in our vast digital realms?
Let’s agree that the internet is truly a powerful place that can provide you with more opportunities than you might think possible. The question that remains though, is where do you start with an online presence for your business?
Ok, so Facebook and TikTok may be a place to start, but you should also consider building yourself a WordPress website.
I already hear you asking yourself, “and why should I use WordPress to build my website?” ….
Well, stick around. I’ll fill you in on all the benefits and the nitty-gritty that comes with creating a WordPress website (ooh la la), ? modern and mobile-friendly – all at the same time.

Can WordPress Be Used For A Business Website?
Owning a WordPress website is a business investment, not just a cost. The site should have a strong foundation upon which you can gradually and consistently build up the content. If you so wish, you can sell your business website in the future as you would any brick and mortar shop.
The best thing about owning your WordPress site is that you have complete control of it. No one can take it away from you or shut down the website because they think it’s against their terms of service (as long as you’re not violating any laws, of course).
The number of times I have heard clients complain about how Facebook has suspended their accounts. With a WordPress website, you have all the power over your site! Who doesn’t want complete control over every aspect of their business, including the digital part?
You create and update content; you own it. And no one can take away what is yours.
Open 24/7, Baby!
Close your eyes and imagine your website is up and running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year. Your customers will have the convenience to shop or visit your site any time they like from any part of the world!
One of the primary advantages of running a WordPress website is that there are many ways to make money. For example, if you set up an e-commerce site, it can generate sales without you needing to be there. It will also free up much of your valuable time by automatically executing those sales – as long as you’ve set up all the right functions.
Completely Free!
“The best things in life are free” – the genius who came up with this must-have had WordPress on their list.
Why use WordPress to build a website? Did I mention it’s absolutely free ? What’s not to like about that?
WordPress is a free ? (sorry if I’m repeating myself) website-building software that can be used to design and publish blogs, shopping carts, eCommerce sites and more. I use WordPress to power all of my client websites which saves them money.
You don’t need to pay anything or have any special coding skills to use it. The WordPress software is available to anyone who wants to build a website or blog.
WordPress will give you the power to customize a site as much or as little as your heart desires. It’s perfect for those creatives who want to showcase their unique brand.
WordPress also comes with lots and lots of free stuff ? to help you build your website.
- Free Themes
- Free Pagebuilder
- Free Plugins
- Free Blog
Benefits Of WordPress Themes
WordPress gives you a wide variety of free themes, so you can use them to customize your website. How many exactly? Too many for me to count, but when I last checked, it was 8000 and counting. That being said, should you choose to use a free theme, they can often lack customization.
I use Elegant’s premium WordPress themes for the majority of my websites. These themes come fully loaded with the necessary elements to create a website, so they’re a brilliant option for aspiring designers. They also support responsive design for tablet and mobile devices, which is an added bonus for you.
Benefits Of WordPress Plugins
So what are WordPress plugins, you may ask? Well, just like you download apps onto a smartphone, WordPress has applications that allow you to add new features and functionality to your website without any coding skills.
There are tons of free plugins for promoting content, social media integration, security features, SEO optimisation, email marketing tools, and so much more! It’s like a child walking into a candy shop. ? ?
You will find there is a plugin for almost anything, that’s why I love building sites on WordPress. WordPress is my candy shop. ?
Flexibility And Change
Another benefit of plugins; they allow so much flexibility for any changing requirements you might have for your website. As you and your business grow, it’s easier to make changes and improvements with a plugin. You can add a shop, a course and/or a membership area. Some of my clients start off with a simple website and, as their business grows, they are able to introduce and utilize new plugins with ease.
Benefits Of A WordPress Page Builder
So what exactly is a page builder? A page builder is a program that allows you to use drag and drop features. As well as add custom blocks of content for your website. You can also edit all the details on each individual element, such as fonts, colours, spacing, and more. A page builder allows you to create a professional website without needing technical knowledge or experience with coding.
To prove my point, take the page builder that comes standard on WordPress, for example:
The Gutenberg Editor
The page editor in WordPress is known as Gutenberg, which is a free block editor. It has all of these features I’ve mentioned above, and it’s simply easy to master. This is a powerful editor that you can use to design beautiful layouts for your website. Again, the blocks are easy to move around and rearrange.
Although Gutenberg is a fantastic tool, I mainly use it for editing my blogs. It’s fast and so simple to use. I can have a blog up and running in under an hour.
When it comes to web design, I still prefer to use premium page builders such as Divi because of the design flexibility it offers.
While WordPress is easy for beginners to use in the basic form, Divi allows customization down to a very intricate level.
Create a WordPress Blog
I created my first blog many moons ago with WordPress.com. Before moving it to WordPress.org.
WordPress.com is a free service that allows you to create an online blog using their platform. However, if you want complete control of your content and design, then upgrade to WordPress.org. You will find it offers way more flexibility and more control over your content design, layout and functionality.
I made the transition to WordPress.org when I decided to get serious with blogging.
If you want more control with colours, themes, design elements or plugins. In particular for SEO purposes, then it might be a good idea to build your blog using WordPress.org. However, this would mean you would need to have a domain name and hosting.
Your WordPress Blog Can Grow Your Business
When faced with unfamiliar technology such as blogs, many business owners simply avoid it. What they don’t realize. By blogging, they can take their business to the next level of success.
Position Yourself As An Expert
- A blog can help you become an authority in the eyes of your visitors. When you focus on a particular topic, your reputation as an expert will grow. Remember, you are providing reliable information or news about your topic.
- When creating articles, you’re not advertising about how your business is the best. Instead, you are providing a valuable service to people in need of assistance. As you are building a following, you are also developing your brand. You are gaining your reputation through your blog. Google loves this.
- A quality blog can generate more traffic to your site. Its value is that it helps you build your customer list and following.
- With a well written blog, not only will people pay attention but they’re reading what you write, establishing you as an authority in your field. The leads you generate through your blog posts are more likely to convert into customers.
- You can also generate income through your blog by adding advertisements or affiliate links to it. This is an effective way of generating revenue that will continue to grow over time too! Wealthy Affiliate is my go-to platform. Perfect for beginners and experts alike who want to get into affiliate marketing.
If you want to stand out with your blog from the rest of the crowd. Consider a custom blog solution – one that can be completely customized to your business.
WordPress And SEO
Google loves WordPress because of its semantic code. There I go again, talking geek! In layman’s words, Google search engine crawlers can access all the website’s content more quickly – a better solution than the code used by other content managers.
There are also free tools available to help your site rank even higher on the SERPs – (Search Engine Results Page).
I have used AIOSEO, Rank Math, and Yoast. These free plugins will help you to optimise your web pages. When someone types into Google searching for particular keywords or phrase that applies to your business. Then, those thousands of people who are looking for what you offer will visit your site. They may then decide that they want what you provide.
Google Analytics, Google Search Console
These free tools are brilliant for Site tracking and analysis.
When you create a WordPress website, one of the last things you may think about is setting up site tracking. I understand, in the flood of the excitement of finishing your site and launching it. Tracking and statistics may be the last thing on your mind.
But imagine, now, here you are a few months later, and your site is starting to take off. You are starting to generate an income from your investment. Great! Now. How will you improve the flow, usability and find out what your visitors are actually looking for?
That’s why you need Google Analytics. It allows you to track your visitors and their behaviour down to the most nitty-gritty details.
Covering all the features of Google Analytics is far beyond the scope of this article. But, my advice is to make sure you include it as soon as your website is ready for launch.
Now, assuming you take my advice. You can track visitors coming and searching for something on your site. You can now make informed decisions like;
- making what your visitors are looking for available on the main page?
- Why make them search?
- Are your site’s visitors looking for something that isn’t there?
- Maybe you should create it? The list goes on.
So, don’t forget. When you create a WordPress website, set up analytics and tracking early. It makes it ten times easier to improve the functionality of your site, which can lead to success for both yourself and your business!
WordPress Community
You won’t be alone with your WordPress site! There is a large community of bloggers, developers and designers all in the same boat as you.
If it feels like no one understands what’s going on with your blog – take solace in knowing that there are thousands of other people who feel exactly the same way too. Reach out to WordPress groups on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit to find answers and network and make good connections with people.
You can join WordPress forums and chat rooms to get help from other WordPress users too. WordPress has a very large community that will answer your questions!
Conclusion
As you can see, WordPress is a compelling and powerful system that makes it easy for just about anyone to create and maintain their own website. No matter how small or large your needs are, this platform can meet them with relative ease.
These 11 benefits, in particular, should have given you the necessary motivation to take a chance on this powerful system. I think you’re missing out on a great opportunity by not using WordPress. It’s so much more than just blogging.
I would certainly love to know if you found this article helpful! I can’t wait for your input, so please let me know by leaving a comment below. Don’t forget to share my writing with others who might find it interesting too.
I absolutely love wordpress. It’s easy to use, with many plugins that can really enhance your site. I’ve been using it for over 4 months now and its pretty easy to track my visitors behaviour, build up the website and make bank with it. And yes you can surely be the master of your niche by using the site to add value and convert these visitors into customers. It should definitely be a go to for website builders
